Joseph Tallcot was the son of Gaius and Sarah (Caustin) Talcott. He married Sarah Hawxhurst in 1789. Tallcot taught school near Washington, Duchess County, N.Y., this later became the Friends School at Nine Partners (1797). He was the author of "The Friendly visitant for parents and children" (1817?) and "The child's companion, being a collection of easy pieces of prose and poetry for young readers" (1818).
